This Time Last Week

April 30, 2010 angie

I've been playing one of my favorite mind games this week.  It's the one where you say to yourself, "This time last week I was (fill in the blank)."

This time last week I was getting this party started:

It was the annual Girls' Trip to Florida.  This time last week I was very busy doing a whole lot of this:

This time last week I was surrounded by some of the best friends a girl could ever have.  They are the kind of friends that you might not see for a year, but the instant you're in the same room together you pick right back up as if you just saw each other yesterday.  They are the kind of friends with which you can chatter away or sit together in silence, and neither situation feels uncomfortable.

This time last week we got dressed up and ate in a nice restaurant and didn't have to pack extra goldfish and crayons to entertain little people.  Instead we entertained each other with stories that would make our own mothers blush.

These are my original playgroup peeps, my dearest friends:  Lisa Barry, Tina Dill, Rebecca Roberts and Lisa Abramson.

This time last week I was having the time of my life with them.  This week I'm missing them and the salty ocean air like crazy.  This time next year we'll do it all over again.  In the meantime, you'll have to pardon me if adjusting back to reality makes me a bit crabby.

I’ve been playing the same game since I got back from my honeymoon…especially when Colorado decides to dump a foot of snow on us…when it’s supposed to be Spring.
    Also?
    I hate that game.
